The Wake County Animal Center would like to reunite all missing pets with their owners. To help us do this, we need animals to wear proper identification and/or be microchipped.
ID TAGS
- Dogs - All dogs should have ID tags securely attached to their collars. The tags can be attached by rings, riveted on the collar directly or embroidered onto the collar. The ID tag should have the dog's name, address and phone number (preferably a cell phone number).
- Cats - If your cat will keep a collar on, they should have an ID tag, as well.
- Little Critters - If you have small critters that live in cages, you can attach an ID tag to their cage.
MICROCHIPS
ALL dogs and cats should be microchipped. Even if your pet loses their collar, the microchip will be there to provide your information.

KEEP YOUR INFORMATION UP TO DATE!!
Unfortunately, many owners that get their pets microchipped don't update their information when their address or phone number changes. Having a microchip and not having a good number to reach you, doesn't help us reunite you with your pet!
If you are unsure if your information is up-to-date, call the company affiliated with your microchip and double check! Your vet can scan your microchip at your pet's annual visit and that is the perfect time to confirm your information!!
